About Jukwaa La Wasomi
Jukwaa la Wasomi is a student-led initiative where different groups—such as Students, Academic Staffs, community members, leaders, government officials, and security agencies—come together to discuss issues affecting Students, Peace and Security. The main goal is to share information, identify challenges, and work on solutions that can prevent crime, resolve conflicts, and promote safety.
The platform (Jukwaa La Wasomi) provides a structured environment where Student Leaders raises concerns, propose solutions, and partner with authorities to address insecurity, build trust, and promote peaceful coexistence.
The Initiative is being Implemented by Universities and Colleges Student Peace Association of Kenya (UCSPAK) through the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
Objectives Of Jukwaa La Wasomi
Collaboration and Dialogue.
To establish platforms for constructive engagements among stakeholders including students, management of institutions of higher learning, community, and security agencies on issues of peace, safety, and security.
Trust Building.
To foster mutual trust and respect by addressing misconceptions, breaking down barriers, and promoting transparency among stakeholders.
Capacity Building.
To equip students and leaders with knowledge, skills, and competencies on the Government agenda, policies, projects, programmes and initiatives.
Previous Activities Held Under Jukwaa La Wasomi
47 County Engagement Forums
From 1st to 31st of September 2025, the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration in collaboration with Universities and Colleges Peace Association of Kenya (UCSPAK) held 47-county Jukwaa La Wasomi Roundtable meetings bringing together Student Leaders and County Security and Intelligence Committees. Insights gathered from the secounty-level discussions culminated to a “Jukwaa la Wasomi Deans of StudentsC onvention.”
Deans of Students Convention
On 6th October,2025 UCSPAK in partnership with the Ministry of Interior held Jukwaa la Wasomi Deans of Students Convention. The objective of the Convention was to review and validate issues raised by Student Leaders during the Roundtable and Counties Engagement Forums. The meeting was officially opened by Dr Raymond Omollo, the Pricipal Secretary, Internal Security and National Administration.
This convention brought together 297 Deans of Students drawn from different Institutions of Higher learning as listed in the table below.
National Summit-Preparatory Meetings
Jukwaa la Wasomi has held two preparatory meetings (first meeting was held on 24th September,2025 while the second meeting was held on 4th November, 2025). Both meetings were held at the Ministry of Interior, Directorate of Peace building Boardroom.
Draft Program for National Summit
Jukwaa La Wasomi National Steering Committee has developed a draft program for the upcoming National Summit.
